Clariss and Mitchel voted out!

Hey, guys! What did you all think of the SYTYCD show last night on Fox chanel? We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens located  at 9820 Hwy Alt A1A, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 did not think it was that great.
The highlight for us was the group performance by the competitors and the rest of the guest performances were pretty BAD!  We did not think much of a ballet person dancing SOLO. We can see he's technical ability and elevation in jumps were fabulous, but the actual show left us empty. The competitors of SYTYCD are doing much better job then this ballet guy in our opinion. And then there was a performance by Snoop Dog and Blush. It was terrible! You should have a look for your self on www.fox.com
As the results go this is what we thought. Boys choice we disagreed with. We would have liked Ricki to be sent out, although in our opinion Mitchell was one of the weakest dancers as well. So its ok for this week but next week we would like to see Ricki go.
As for the girls, we have our two favourite ( Melanie and Sasha) who we think are the front runners in this competition and as for the other girls they are so equal in their abilities that it is very difficult to predict which one goes first. And this week it happend to be Clariss. As far as we are concerned as long as Sasha and Melanie stay as top two girls we do not mind who goes next  week.
So, let's see what happens next week. We are at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens already cannot wait to see SYTYCD season 8 on Wednesday 27 July 2011 on Fox.

All-stars are back at SYTYCD Season 8.

Hey there you Guys. We are back with our thoughts on this week performance from the top 10 dancers of this season 8 of SYTYCD. What a great show. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens, located at 9820 Hwy Alt A1A, Promenade Plaza, Palm Beach Gardens, Fl 33410 just love this show and if it was not for these kind of shows we would not be able to talk about what we love to do the most- IT’S DANCING!

So, the night kicked off with an introduction of all dancers and judges and this week we had Neal Patrick Harrison ( the actor from the television show “ How I’ve meat your Mother!”) as this week’s guest judge. We like the idea of producers of this show of having guest judges on the panel every week, but we are not sure that those judges should be individuals with no dance experience. After all, we believe that judge’s critique is there to help the people competing, and what help can a non dancer offer in technical aspect of the dance???

Kat Dealy looked great again, as she always dose! We do hope that she would get an Emmy this year! She should!

Ok then. Let’s talk about the dancers now and what has actually happened on the stage during the night. Every dancer had to perform a Solo during the night. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens thought that everybody did a good job. Our attentions have caught three dancers. They were: Marko, Melanie and Jess. Those three have produced very strong solos technically, musically and emotionally, which is exactly what you need for solo work. There were also a couple of dancers in solo performances that left us with questions. Why was Mitchell wearing a dipper lookalike outfit?  From our point of view the look is just as important as performance. Then there was a solo from Ricki, which left us completely empty. Unfortunately for Ricki, his performance is OK technically, but he never seems to connect with emotional side of the dance and also his solo work is always a number of element just put together , but those elements need to follow one another in a meaningful way to create a great story of the dance, for us this was the weakest solo of the night.

Now , let’s talk about the actual performances of those dancers with the all-stars! Wow, wow and wow! Great to have those guys back.  There were many great routines by very good choreographers! There were a few of them that really have impressed us!

1.       Sasha and Twitch! We have always said if Sasha made it through to the top 10 of SYTYCD we would love to see her dance with Twitch. And we were so right! What a partnership! They have dance a lyrical Hip-Hop piece by Christopher Scott! Wow, what a story and most of all how wonderfully told. They had it all: chemistry, action, technique, togetherness…… We could go on and on about it. The best way to see what we are talking about is to see it with your own eyes. Go to www.fox.com and see the latest episode. Our favorite of the night.

2.       Marko and Chelsie Hightower have danced a very fast and filled with a lot of lifts and technical elements Samba routine by Jason Guilkinson and they looked hot! Marko has amazed us in how into the floor he has danced! The hip action was there also and we all know how difficult it is to get it! And he only had a few hours this week to learn it…? He is Just such versatile dancer that we here at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens feel that is one of the front runners in this competition!

3.       Kaytleen and Pasha danced an Argentine Tango ! They have danced it with a lot of passion, quality, intensity and technique! They really had that connection that is required by this dance. Kaytleen really did look very mature this week and it’s an achievement for her as all of the past weeks judges have complained that she look very young and that she has danced very immature! Good job Kaytleen. Keep up the good work.

On the night there were also a lot of very nice performances by other couples. Jordan and Brandon who have dance a Contemporary piece by Dwyde and Desmond Richardson. They really made us feel the story they have tried to tell. Over all it was a very nice performance. Jess and Katherine also dance the contemporary piece choreographed by Stacy Tookey . Jess has really improved his partnering and lifts work, which was lacking last week. Melanie and Pasha have danced a Viennese Waltz choreographed by Jason Guilkinson. We thought that they did what has been asked of them and more. Unfortunately from our point of view the routine was not a True Viennese Waltz as it did not have a lot of basic steps that are required in this dance. But it’s not the dancers fault, it’s the choreographers! Ricki has danced with Allison ( one of our favorite all stars) and he did an ok job from our perspective. We just find that Ricki is not the best partner in the world and he always seems so disconnected from his partners. So let’s see what happens tonight. Clarisse has danced with Robert this week. And they have had a chance to show us Bollywood. It was a great performance. It was a very fast dance indeed!

And then there were two disappointing performances. Mitchell and Melody have dance a Broadway Number by Tyce Diorio and it just did not flow at all. Guys just could not get the connection that is required from a partnership. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens felt that Mitchell did not get this style. And there was a performance by Tadd and Comfort. A big disappointment to us. Not that the guys did not dance it well, they did, but where the routine has been choreographed by very inexperience choreographer in our opinion and there for the piece had a bad choice of music and the movements did not connect with the story. So, let’s hope Tadd has some luck tonight.

So, this is what we thought of Last night’s show. What did you think? Let’s see what results we’ll have tonight. We’d love to hear your comments.

TOP 10 OF SYTYCD HAVE BEEN SELECTED!

Wow! What a show it was! Top 12 dancers have been competing this week for an opportunity of a lifetime! This critical week in the competition all of the couples had to do two dances  and we must admit all of the dancers have done an amazing job. The team of Arthur Murray Palm Beach gardens thinks , that this season is the strongest we’ve seen in the history of SYTYCD!

So, the show has began on Wednesday night with an introduction of judges as usual and for this week we had Sonya, Mary, Nigel and a guest judge Jesse Tyler Furguson( ACTOR FROM A MODERN FAMILY SERIES).

First ones to take the stage were Sasha and Alexander with a dramatic Paso Doble choreographed by Melanie Lapatin and Tony Meredith. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens thought that the concept for the routine has been great, but in our opinion it would have been better if another couple has danced. Sasha is such a dominant and strong dancer, there are only a few male dancers that could and would look great dancing with this girl. Sasha dances with such passion , she always manages to transmit the feeling of the dance to the audience. Unfortunately for Alexander , Sasha has dominated him by quite a bit, although we felt he has improved tremendously this week. Alexander need to start working on his upper body and a connection with the partner through upper body if he was to partner in the future!

Next were dancing Jordan and Tadd , who had a contemporary piece by Travis Walls. Not sure if it was our favorite routine by Travis Walls, but we can see that he has used best qualities of the two dancers and put it to use. Jordan’s leg extensions were out of this world and may we mention how many she did in this dance….. and Tadd keeps on amazing us with his elasticity and control of his body movement, considering that this guys is a bea-boy dancer! Great job by those two!

Now it was turn by Ryan and Ricky to dance the Broadway number choreographed by Spencer. Well….. it was a bit of a disappointment to be quite honest with you. At this point in the competition we need to be blown away and we were not! Ricky has captured the character of the number much more so then Ryan, but still it was not enough in our opinion. We feel that the lack of connection between the two of them whilst dancing has shown a lot in this number and that is so unfortunate at this point in the completion.

Kaitlyne and Mitchell were dancing next. They had a routine of lyrical hip-hop choreographed by Christopher Scott.  It was A touching story through the dance that was very well told by Kaitlyne and Mitchell. We feel that both of those dancers have come a long way since the start of this competition, however there is still room for improvement. We feel that in this style Mitchell needs to relax his upper body a little bit more so he can appear more grounded and into the floor. As for Kaitlyne we thought she did very well, the only thing we would add is more of a connection and relation to the partner whilst dancing this style of dance.

Following Kaitlyne and Mitchell were Melanie and Marko. They drew Tango as the first dance this week and it was choreographed by no other then Luoise Van Amstel. We just love Louise work, he is amazing dancer, choreographer and a teacher! We are so pleased that SYTYCD have asked him to do work with the competitors this season. So, as a quality of the dance we did not feel the Melody and Marko danced it great. Unfortunately the technical aspect was not there for us, however the performance and passion of the dance have been there and some! These guys keep on amaze us and we feel that they are becoming our strong favorites of the competition!

Clarice and Jesse were the next ones to come onto the floor. They were dancing lyrical hip-hop choreographed by Christopher Scott. We just must mention how much Jess improved his partnering skills. He is actually leading the girl and does not look uncomfortable any more. We also noticed how these guys improved upon their togetherness and unison while dancing in side by side parts of the dance. Great Job!

Ok. Now we have come to the second part of the show where all of the dancers had a chance to dance for the second time.

Sasha and Alexander have pulled the number by Tyce Diorio. It’s always a great thing to see couple dance to such a beautiful music and such wonderful choreography. Tyce is a genius! He always manages to capture the best qualities of the dancers and the music. We must say that Sasha and Alexander did a great job in dancing this number. The passion, the technique, the musicality, you name it ,it was there. Excellent come back from the previous number! Let’s see what the voting brings.

Jordan and Tadd have pulled the Broadway number by Spencer. To be honest , we just did not like it as number. There were great moments of technical aspect from both of the dancers. Un fortunately for Jordan and Tadd this number did not show them in the best light.

Second routine of the night for Ryans and Ricky was a Cha-cha. Unfortunately for Ryan it did not do her any favors. She looked rushed, uncollected, and not comfortable at all. Ryan was a lot of the time out of the floor , the weight has never actually been transmitted from foot to foot and therefore she has danced all of the Cha-cha with the weight between two legs, which is a big NO-NO in Latin American Dancing! Ricky did a little better. He captured the hip action that is needed in cha-cha, however the leading of the partner was not there for us !

Kaitlyne and Mitchell were very lucky to get Travis Walls piece as their second dance. At last we have a couple that actually danced together on the night. Great partnering, great performance!

Melanie and Marko were on stage next for the last time. Fabulous dancing by those two excellent dancers. They just catch our breath! The quality and togetherness of their dancing is out of this world. Those two will go a long way in  the future whatever happens in this competition!

So , no we have come to Thursday night eliminations.  Not a big surprise there really with who ended up in the bottom three position. They were: Kaitlyne and Mitchell, Ryan and Ricky, Sasha and Alexander. After the solos have been danced the judges decided to let go of Alexander and Ryan. Although we understand why judges have picked those two, we disagree with the choice of the male dancer. We would have let go of Ricky as he just cannot seem to find the way to connect with the lady dancer and he looks terribly uncomfortable leading the girl. But such is life and the choice of judges is the choice we have to live with.

Anyway, We just would like to mention the opening group number of Paso Doble. It was such great number you guys need to see it for yourself if you have not already! Here is the link for you http://www.fox.com/dance/full-episodes/

Also we have the list of all-stars that would be joining the show this season. They are: Melody,Allison,Pasha, Twitch,Comfort,Chelsie( from the Dancing with the stars)Brandon, Kathreen and Robert.

What a line up! We at Arthur Murray palm beach Gardens just cannot wait to see this week So You Think You Can Dance show on Wednesday Night at 8:00pm on Fox.

WEEK 4 OF DANCING WITH THE STARS

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Boy,  did we enjoy this week Dancing with the stars show on abc channel here at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens located on Alt A1A @ Promenade Plaza. We hope you did too. Here is what we thought about it.
The show has began with the most exhilarating performance from Romeo and Chelsea. Boy oh boy.! What a Paso Doble they have danced. In our opinion here at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens it was the best Paso Doble of the night. The intensity, the lines, the way Romeo has partnered Chelsea, the choreography…. We can go on forever…. It was all there. Way to go Romeo and Chelsea!
To follow Romeo and Chelsea were Louis and Kendra with a very nice performance of Viennese Waltz . Nice is as far as we are going to go this week with our comments. We do love the work that Louis van Amstel does with all of his celebrities and the work with Kendra is no exception. However we do feel that Kendra is not putting a hundred percent of work into it. And it did show this week. As for technique and physical appearance  the dance was good but as for the emotional interpretation of the dance we at Arthur Murray Palm Beach gardens felt it was lacking . Also we felt that judges were a little harsh in their marking this week on Louis and Kendra. We feel it was unfair .We do hope that Kendra can open up a little more next week. Good luck guys.
Then the stage took Sugar Ray and Anna.  Well…… What can we say….. We think that the right person has left the show this week. We were very surprised to see judges markings this week for him. They have marked him over Kendra and we feel it was not right. The idea behind the dance was great, but unfortunately for Sugar Ray the dance just did not suit him. He really did look like Sugar Plum Fairy…J However we do appreciate the effort that Sugar Ray has put into his performance , even though it did look funny in places.
After Sugar Ray it was Petra’s and Dmitri’s turn.  They have dance Paso Doble this week. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens do agree with Len’s comment this week about the lack of pressure into the floor through the feet from Petra’s performance, but we feel that with a little more work she will do just fine. It was a very strong performance from this couple this week, however we feel that a little more emotion would have been nice. Let’s see what next week will bring.
Now we have come to the performance from Ralf and Karina. And what a beautiful Waltz they have danced. What we like the most from Ralf is his extension through his body into his arms. This is a very difficult thing to do , especially if you are a non dancer. The emotional aspect of the dance was fantastic! Welcome back Ralf. We love it when you dance like that. Keep it up!
So. Now we have come to our Favorite couple of this season. Hines and Kim. Wow, wow and once more wow. Yet again an outstanding performance from this guy. The intensity was amazing. We must mention that the execution of Twist turns( or the “TWISTIES” in Olga’s and Tim’s language) was excellent. Way to go. We are at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens routing for this couple. We do hope that they win!
After Hines and Kim there was a performance from Mark Ballas and Chelsie. They have danced a beautiful Viennese Waltz to a music from Harry potter. It was amazing to watch. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens just love the creativity of the choreography and the execution of it. Mark has made this dance very young and we love it! Making it as exciting as he did should capture younger crowd and that what we want and need for the Ballroom dancing . We felt that Chelsie has danced it very well. The top line was great, and we ( the dancers) know very well  how difficult it is to achieve that. So, well done guys and keep up the progress that you are making. We are loving it!
To follow and amazing performance from Mark and Chelsie were Chris and Cheryl. And we must say how much we have enjoyed it. They have danced a very good Paso doble. Not the best of the night , however it was very intense, filled with a very good technical execution of the steps. We particularly like the way Chris partners Cheryl. It is very hard for the guy to do so, especially when you have only danced a few weeks. Well done Chris and Cheryl.
And last but not least there was a performance from Kirstie Alley and Maks. They have danced a very beautiful Waltz. After last weeks misfortune you would have thought that there nothing else can go wrong. HA-HA. Wrong. Kirstie’s shoe has come off ! What bad luck. However we feel Kirstie has handled it very well. She has got up and kept on dancing like a true professional. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens are continuing to be amazed at how light and graceful Kirstie dances. Its not easy. And we must point out the Kirstie is bringing te best out in Maks. We just love this partnership. We are also rooting for you guys. Good luck for next week. Fingers crossed that nothing funny happens to your dance!
So. This what we thought about this weeks performances. What did you think? Let us know.
KEEP DANCING!

Dancing with the Stars show week 3 and Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens view on it.

Hi there Everyone! Hope this blog post finds you all very well. We had a wonderful week in our Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens @ Promenade plaza on A1A in the Gardens. We had some new people join us this week and we are very excited about that.  Let’s hope this week is going to be just as exciting as the last!
So, we had another performance by celebrities In Dancing with the stars show on ABC channel. And what a show that was! We had some great performances and some not so great.  This is what we @ Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens thought about it.
The first performance has been done by Wendy and Tony. Unfortunately for us this was real disappointment. Wendy has not improved one little bit in a week and unfortunately for Tony we think this will mean a departure from the show at such an early stage. We could be wrong. At the end of the day the public decides , but in our opinion they were the worst of the night. The foxtrot did not flow as much as it should do at this point in the competition. There was no body contact throughout the dance, which it should have and the upper body position was a true disappointment. So let’s see what happens……
Then we had a very nice cha-cha performance By Chelsie and Mark. Very good choice of costumes and music. Chelsie’s execution of Cha-cha basic steps like “New Yorks” and “Fan” and so on was excellent and the musicality was great. Well done guys and we at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens very much looking forward to seeing your development in the weeks to come. Go for it guys!
Now we have come to Chris and Cheryl. What a beautiful Rumba they have danced. Cheryl’s wardrobe has improved dramatically this evening. She looked great. Chris has danced this dance with such great feeling , it was very emotional. However there are couple of things he can improve for the future. Foot action needs to be looked at as it is so important to have a very good foundation and also his arm actions were a little neglected . The upper body lines were incomplete due to the arm not in contact with partner not being placed anywhere. But with saying all that we at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens felt that the leading of partner by Chris was outstanding and we all know how hard it is to do for the guys. So, well done guys.
Following Chris and Cheryl there were Kendra and Louise. What a surprise performance that was by them. We must take our hat off to Louis van Amstel. He is such a good teacher! Kendra’s leg action has improve enormously. The swivel action was great due to an impressive connection between the two of them. The overall look we felt was amazing. If they continue developing like that we are in for very nice treat later in the season. We cannot wait to see it.
Next on the floor were Romeo and Chelsea. Emotional we felt that the dance was executed very good. You can see how much this meant to Romeo. However there is room for improvement in Romeo’s him action and foot placement. Also we think, that the arm action needs a little more fluidity . But overall this was a very nice performance.
Now we have come to our favorites of the night Hines Ward and Kim Johnson. Wow, wow and once again wow!  What a Samba they have danced. They had us fooled prior to this dance. Due to the footage of the practice we thought that this is not going to go well and how wrong our first impression was? It was an amazing dance. Everything was so good about it that it just blew us away! The hip action , the bounce, the foot placement, the emotion (we could go on forever) was there. Just perfect! We think we at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens have got our favorite. The faces of the fellow competitors and pro’s have said it all. The best of the night!
So how do you come out on the floor and perform after such wonderful dancing by Hines Ward? Well Sugar Ray had to do it. And it was tough. Sugar Ray has put a lot of effort in his Paso Doble and unfortunately in our opinion it did not pay off. It was a little clumsy and it did not have a very good connection between Sugar Ray and Anna. Also we would like to point out that if you are going to do something, we think it should be done well. Unfortunately we feel that the cape action was very bad at the beginning of the dance and it should not have been done at all. We feel it had set a very bad start to the dance. So let’s hope that this performance is not going to cost them dearly!
Following Sugar Ray and Anna were Dmitry and Petra Nemkova. The dancing was much improved , however we feel that the judges are very unfair to the competitors. Last week they have hammered Mark Ballas’s and Chelsea’s Jive due to not enough jive content in the dance, which was duly noted by the way. SO this week we have Dmitry and Petra doing a very nice Waltz dance without a lot of the waltz steps in it. Do the Judges mention it? NO. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens feel that this very unfair and we hope that it would not happen again for the competitors sake, however we feel it’s very unlikely, due to the nature of the show.
Now we have come to the Maks and Kirstie Alley. The have danced a Rumba. For those of you who  actually saw the program, what a quick recovery after such a misfortune. Poor Maks! We hope he is ok? I guess we will find out tonight on the result show on ABC channel. They have started the rumba with a back drag line with progression where Maks has had a lot of his own and Kirstie’s weight on him and unfortunately all of that weight has shifted more to one side of his body( left side to be precise) and his hip has given way. It looked so painful!!!! But the recovery was amazing. Both of them have regained the confidence and composed themselves quickly, only to perform one of the better rumbas of the night. Kirstie as usual has shown an amazing execution of basic actions and musicality. The emotional side of the rumba was so beautiful, it was very nice to see Kirstie to show a very sexy side of her, however hard it was for her.
And last but not least is Ralf (the karate kid) and Karina. They have chosen a Rumba for their dance this week. It was a very nice touch by Ralf to choose it as it his wedding anniversary this week. He has said that it is their 24th one and that his wife has given him the best twenty four years of his life. How sweet is this? Unfortunately for Ralf the dance they danced with Karina was nothing but sweet. Rumba should be very sensual and passionate and we did not see any of that. So it kind of left us with a slightly disappointed feeling. Where we have been so wowed by Ralf and Karina last week we have expected something just as good as that and we did not get it. So we guess it was a disappointment for us. Let’s hope that the viewers will vote for them and they’ll do much better next week. Good luck guys.
Soooo, this is what we thought of the last nights performances. It was a very nice show to watch. We at Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens cannot wait to see the result show tonight. What will happen? Let us know what you guys think . Meet you back here after the result show.

Dancing with the Stars on ABC – the Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens thoughts on it.

Hi everyone. Sorry for being absent from the blog for so long. We had such a busy time in the studio it’s not true!! We are not complaining at all , quite the opposite….. We want you make our lives even more filled with dance. Come on in as often as you can. We love it.
So what has happened in the last month? Loads of things. Our own Craig Elsbury and Olga Elsbury have been very hard at work on their routines for the performances on April 16th At the Kravis Centre for the Local Dancing with the Stars Competition. And we must say they are doing a great Job. Both of the celebrities look fabulous. Our hats come down to both Liz Quirantes and Tim Alan Walker for their efforts and dedication. Great Job!

Also the new Season of Dancing with the Stars has started on ABC. At last is all we can say. We always wait for the new season with greatest anticipation, and what a season we have this year!!! OMG! Such a wonderful cast of professional and celebrities . Expect unbelievable things! This is what we think !

We had the first performances of those celebrities last week and what a treat that was! Wonderful selection of CHA-CHA and FOXTROT routines .Our favorites for that week were, Kirstie Alley and Maks, Chelsea and Mark, Ralf and Karina, Hines and Kim!
We have also thought that other celebrities have done very well as well , although we would have preferred to see a little more from Wendy’s performance. She must have been absolutely petrified  and it must be the result of her Cha-cha looking a little slow and lazy in places however we did think that the Quickstep by Wendy was very good. It had a good posture and a very good timing, we would have loved to see a little lighter movement from one foot to another , but we are sure she will improve very quickly as the teacher she is dancing with is Tony Dovolany and we absolutely love his approach to teaching dance. By the way did you notice what Tom Bergeran has called Tony last night at the result show. TWINKLE TOOTH! HA-HA! So from Now on we would have to call him that.

Sugar Ray and Anna have done very well also. The Foxtrot of theirs was very nice, but lacked a little fluidity. Jive performance was ok for us , but could have had a little more bounce. It would be very interesting to see how they’ll do next week.

Romeo and Chelsea were great. We love this professional’s work. Especially the Quickstep this week. What a great show of scatter chasses and the top line provided by Romeo was amazing. Well done.

Chris and Cheryl. We thought that the Quickstep performance was awesome. Very light on feet and posture was great. Cha- Cha however was a little lacking in foot position quality. The feet should be turned out not turned in! We call it a Bear Foot Syndrome! We are sure that Cheryl will get it sorted very soon. Also we would like to point out how much we did not like Cheryl’s dress for the quickstep. It made her shorter then she really is and also it made her very much widerL! Let’s hope her wardrobe for next week will be improved!

Kendra and Louis. They have been drawn to dance Cha-cha first and quickstep second. We thought they did excellent. Louis is such a wonderful teacher in our opinion. Every time he gets a new celebrity he manages to unlock wonderful characteristics in them. Kendra’s quickstep was very elegant and this is what they have been working on all week. Well done Kendra. We are so looking forward to seeing your future performances.

Petra and Dmitriy. We have not got much to say about those two at this moment of time. Hopefully their performance next week will make us talk about, as for now I guess we did not think much of it. Sorry guys. Do better next week.

Hines and Kim. What a treat to watch those two dance. Especially the CHA-CHA. Hines’s hip action was amazing and the performance aspect was outstanding. The quickstep was awesome , it left us smiling throughout the whole dance. Keep going like that guys and who know…. Interesting things( results) might await us in the future.

Chelsea and Mark. Wow, wow and wow. Did you all see that Jive the have dance. Wasn’t it amazing! We thought so ! However we do agree the a little more jive steps wouldn’t have missed a go. Although it’s very hard to dance Jive to a non-jive music. The creativity by Mark was super. We would have done the same thing. We are expecting wonderful things from this partnership.

Ralf and Karina. First we would like to point out how unfair it is that the man of Ralf’s age looks like a teenager. This guy has not changed a bit since the Karate Kid Movie. The energy, elegance and endurance of this person has amazed us all. The rhythm, the balance , the posture and all the rest was out of this world. Let’s see what happens next week. We cannot wait to see it.

Kirstie and Maks. This is quite an interesting partnership from our point of view. When we first heard that those to have been paired up we were not sure how it would work. Maks is known for his sharp temper and Kristy for her sharp answers to questions. However those two have hit it off to a great start. They really look happy to be dancing together. Kirstie’s cha-cha was sooooo sultry it’s not true. We must say that for the woman of her age and weight she is amazing. Her foot speed is fabulous, the hip action is spot on and the posture in Quickstep was great. We are very excited to be seeing many more performances by Kirstie and Maks. You go guys!

And Finally we come to the couple that has been eliminated this week. The first ones to go home. Mike and Lacey. We thought that the result was fair. Their foxtrot was lacking in style and smoothness and their Jive just did not look very good. The bounce of jive was a little stompy for our liking, we would have liked to see more smoother transition from one foot to another through continuous bounce in the knees and a proper use of foot.

So, everyone, this is what we thought about this week’s performance and results of the show. What did you think? We would love to hear your opinions on that .
Bye Bye for now. Meet you back here on our Blog of Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens next week for another look and discussion at Dancing With Stars Show on ABC channel.
KEEP DANCING!

AMPBG @ The Kravis Centre - Reach For The Stars Pairings Announced!

This week has been a CRAZY week!! Lots of great lessons and group classes. Students prepping for out of this world Showcases! Yet in amongst it all the AMPBG team also headed to West Palm Beach to meet Amanda Lamb and the Kravis Centre team for the annual "Reach For The Stars" benefit orientation meeting.

In whats is known around the area as "Dancing With The Local Stars" local media celebrities are paired with some of the areas top dancers for a one off performance. Much like the top rated TV show Dancing With The Stars.

Last year Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens had great success when Lesley Elsbury and her local celebrity Josh "Brother Love" Cohen from 94.3 Real Radio's The Home Team came in 2nd place, missing top spot by half a point, with their ChaChaCha. So this year we are hoping to bring the 1st place trophy home!

Representing us are two pairings who intend to train hard and go out to impress.

Firstly we have Craig Elsbury who has been drawn to dance with last years champion CBS news presenter  Liz Quirantes. They drew the ChaChaCha and will go on stage as the 5th on the night. See below for the photo of when they first met!

Liz was delighted with her dance choice as it gives her a chance to get back to her Latin roots. And as the returning champion she will need to draw everything together if she hopes to retain her crown! She is the one to beat and everyone has her in their sights. Having said that Liz in highly motivated and competitive so don't expect her to give up her title easily!

One of the early favorite couples are also from Arthur Murray Palm Beach Gardens as we find our very own Olga "The Enforcer" Elsbury paired with Tim (T.A) Allan Walker from the Clear Channel morning show team!

Tim drew the dramatic Paso Doble as his dance and Olga was very pleased with the random pick. This is the first year that the Paso Doble will be featured in the competition and Olga and Tim hope to set the stage on fire! Tim has already, in the first few days, shown him self to be committed to the process and Olga "The Enforcer" is sure to get the best from her charismatic partner! Check out their first meeting below...

The competition takes place on April 16th 2011 and It is sure to be a great event no matter which couple take the title in the end. It is all for charity and tickets can be bought by following the link -  http://www.kravis.org/index.cf

Saturday Night Dance - Great Success! Thanks to all!

Hi everyone, I wanted to make some time to put out a brief mention to all the people who made our first Saturday night dance so fabulous! We had a full studio with a mixture of new people and some loyal followers from the old Tequesta studio.

The music was excellent as always from the great Pete "Sir Dance-A-Lot" and his fab wife June. All who came couldn't stop commenting on the wonderful large floor and amazing atmosphere for dancing.

There were three fabulous showcases on the night. Tom and Mary took on a very playful Swing routine and brought the house down with their mixture of technique, showmanship and comedic styling! Nice mustache Mary!!

Craig Gordon and Francis Yu stepped in for the unfortunately sick  John who was supposed to perform a smooth style Foxtrot with Olga. However you would not have known it was a last minute addition from their performance of the American styled Viennese Waltz! Speed, rhythm, grace and elegance were shown throughout the basics and the spiral turns alike.

Finally our very own Craig and Lesley took the floor for their Waltz / Viennese Waltz hybrid dance to David Cooks version of the Michael Jackson classic "Billie Jean". The crowd went crazy from start to finish as they swung with style and power through a variety of International and American style figures including the incredibly difficult high speed rotation Fleckeral. The whole dance came to a stunning end as Craig eased Lesley on to his shoulder for some lift spins and a drop finish! One attendee commented it was the most beautiful dance she had ever had the privilege of seeing!

If this is anything to go by then our next open dance should be amazing......So come join us on February 12th at 7.30 pm for our Valentine Day Dance. You can even join in the fun by coming dressed in Red and White if you like!

Cant wait to see you all again soon!

Happy New Year to one and All

Well Well Well, Happy New year To You All!!

I am so sorry for the lack of content recently, but i assure you that it has been a warranted absence from the blog. You see the last 6-8 weeks I and the rest of the team have spent every awake moment (and some of the asleep ones too!) working our fingers to the bone in the new studio location.

It delights me to confirm that we will be opening Tuesday the 18th of January 2010 in our Fab new location! So where is it you ask?? Well I am going to tell you. We can now be found in The Promenade Shopping Mall, 9820 Alt A1a, Unit 206 In Palm Beach Gardens, 33410.

The new studio location has over 4200 square feet and 2600 square feet of open dance floor for your (and our) enjoyment!

We will be open Tuesday through Friday from 1pm until 10pm and then from 10am until 4pm on Saturdays so we should be able to fit even the pickiest of clients schedules.

As with all Arthur Murray's the emphasis is on quick and easy learning whilst having lots and lots of fun. Having taught over 40 million people to dance around the world so far you CAN BE SURE that your in safe hands and when you will feel the Arthur Murray difference form the moment you walk in our front door to the moment to dance out of it!

Once our full schedule is released I will post a link here but it is true to say that we are perfectly equipped to deal with all of the Palm Beach Gardens community dance needs:

  • Special Individual Wedding First Dances
  • Private Dance Lessons in some of the worlds favorite and most usable dances including Salsa, Swing, Foxtrot and Tango.
  • Zumba burn up to 500 calories and tone up all over with this great full body workout using the core dance moves to Pure Latin Rhythms.
  • Weekly in Studio social dance parties and regular out of studio social dancing activities.

Anyhow, thats enough of me blurbing on about all the great things we can help you do, I will post back shortly with pictures of the completed studio....or you could just pop in and see us. It going to look much better in person.

Here's hoping to see lots of people through the studio in the coming days and weeks,

Ciao for now.
